Mayor’s scholarships

It’s been now 14 years that scholarships are granted to pupils and students with outstanding results. Scholarships are granted for achievements in learning (grades average for primary school pupils is 5,4, for junior high school pupils 5,2, secondary school pupils 5,0, higher learning institutions 4,6); it’s also granted to the finalists of the Olympics or international, national and regional contests or for sports and artistic successes.

This year Scholarship Committee included the president Barbara Wilkoszyńska, town councilwoman Katarzyna Syryjczyk-Słomska, town councilman Henryk Czich and representative of the Silesian Technical University Ryszard Majchrzak. The committee decided to reward 165 pupils and students.
Scholarships were granted Nov. 25 in the Town Culture Center.
I am glad there are so many of you here today – said mayor Stanisław Piechula during the event. The ceremony was combined with the performance of gymnasts from Mikołów and a short concert by Tymoteusz Bies, one of the beneficiaries and at the same time the participant of this year’s International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition.
